 Austin, TX's Danny Malone - Silver Moon 2.12.10 Austin, Texas is known as a haven for churning out talented singer/songwriters. It’s unofficially called The Live Music Capital of the World, helping popularize such music greats as Stevie Ray Vaughn, Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac, and The Police among others.
This Friday, Silver Moon Brewing is hosting a night of live acoustic folk, pop-rock with another up-and-comer hailing from the Texas capital, Danny Malone.
I haven’t had the pleasure of watching Malone perfrom live, but spent a good couple hours reading up on him and checking out some videos. Not bad… I like what I saw. (more…)

 Ready to part-ay! The holiday season always brings out the crazy in people. Halloween gives guys the chance to dress up like women and women to barely dress at all. With Christmas comes the surfacing of the Ugly Christmas Sweater and Winter pajama parties. Let the festivities begin.
This Saturday offers up you nutty kids a couple great events where you can show off those awesome past Christmas gifts that you wouldn’t be caught dead in any other day of the year.
Silver Moon Brewing is holding down their official holiday party this Saturday, beginning at 9pm. It’s an Ugly Christmas Sweater theme which is, from what I’ve seen, (more…)

 Chicks with Picks. November 27th at 5pm Friday after Turkey Day, four female-fronted bands are getting together to help raise money for a local charity. They call it Chicks With Picks. Pretty catchy.
The benefit concert is to raise money for Saving Grace, a local women’s violence support organization. Since 1977, Saving Grace has provided support and services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, date rape and stalking.
The gig is on November 27th from 5-9pm at Silver Moon Brewing. Performers include The Royal Fiasco, Broken Down (more…)

 David Jacob-Strain, Live at the Moon After you eat up the last of Mom’s pumpkin pie and take that quick catnap, slip on your ‘going-out’ gear and head down to the Silver Moon for a live show featuring slide guitarist David Jacobs-Strain, Saturday November 28 at 9pm.
Grove Presents brings this guy to Bend every year, but this time there is an added bonus. The usually solo artist is bringing his full band, making this regular one-man-band, four.
I haven’t had the chance to catch him live yet. This Saturday’s show will be my first. I’m a huge fan of the slide guitar, my favorite being from Ben Harper, so I’m excited to see what this guy is all about. I went (more…)

| The weekend everybody’s been waiting for has finally come! The Twilight Saga: New Moon has come to theaters and is playing about twenty times a day at your local theater. Tickets are selling quick for this show. Instead of waiting in line to find out tickets are sold out, you can now buy your tickets online right here on our site. Just click the red ticket button next to the movie time and you’re on your way.
Also in theaters is Sandra Bullock’s ‘The Blind Side’, and the animation ‘Planet 51′. Then, due to the holiday weekend, you can also catch the new movies ‘Old Dogs’ and ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’ on Wednesday at select theaters. The times haven’t been sent to us yet for the Wednesday Regal movie theater releases, but as soon as we get them, we’ll let you know. |

 Visit your friendly Open Mic Night Earlier today we got an email from another venue telling us about their new open mic night. Over the last couple months the ‘open mic night’ concept has been popping up at venues all over Bend.
I’ve been to my fair share of these events and I’ve got to tell you there’s a lot of untapped talent here. I’ve heard some soloists, side-projects, and newly formed bands trying out new material. A lot of these musicians are very creative without the venue to display it. That’s the great thing about Open Mic.
