I’m a sucker for a good burger. It’s one of my favorite things. Sometimes I even judge an entire restaurant based on how good the burger is.
It’s kind of like a pair of shoes. You can learn a lot about a person just by the kind of shoes they wear. I guess what I’m saying is the hamburger is the footwear of the dining industry. (Ok, that’s weird.)
Downtown’s longest-running restaurant, Pine Tavern Restaurant, has just hooked up one of the sweetest deals on my beloved bun-wrapped delight.
Beginning this Wednesday and every Wednesday after you can order up the classic Pine Tavern Burger for only $5! No, they’re aren’t little slider size. These are half-pound, charbroiled ground chuck burgers, topped with lettuce, tomato, red onions, pickle, and mayonnaise on a toasted cornmeal kaiser bun and the PTR’s famous house-made potato chips.
If you like a little extra on your burger, they’ll hook that up, too, at a buck an add-on. Want cheese? It’s a buck. Bacon? Throw in a buck. Fresh avocado? Yep. A buck.
The $5 burger is good when dining in only, no take-outs. But, why would you want it to-go anyway? The PTR is a great place to enjoy lunch or dinner. There’s a couple trees growing through the ceiling for the sake of Pete!
