El Rodeo Tacos Make Me Happy

El + Rodeo = Yum. And it spells El Rodeo.

El + Rodeo = Yum. And it spells El Rodeo.

There’s really only one thing that can guarantee the success of a restaurant and it comes in the form of one simple word: Consistency.

El Rodeo is a Bend, Oregon restaurant that epitomizes ‘consistency.’ Everytime you walk in you’re welcomed by their greeter at the podium, usually the owner. You get seated immediately and have water, chips and salsa before you can even turn your phone to vibrate. (On a side note… I know we’re all busy people, but please turn that damn phone off when you’re at a restaurant. For some of us dinner is the only escape from the daily grind.)

Their servers become your good friends and the food becomes your favorite dish. There’s something comforting about knowing that when you get to a restaurant that it’s going to be just as good and satisfying as the last time you were there.

Tonight I had one of my staple El Rodeo plates. Two chicken tacos, rice and beans. You can’t really screw that up, I know, but how do they make them so good? The beans and rice taste like there fresh off the vine. And, the tacos!? They’ll make your taste buds melt. Perfectly seasoned stripped chicken, fresh lettuce and tomatoes, and sharp grated cheddar. You can’t beat this place for a quick, cheap lunch. Or dinner for that fact.

It’s one of our favorites, and if you haven’t been there yet, it just may be yours, too.
